Been busy lately… going to be even busier over the next two weeks, as we launch Emerald Radio – our college’s 1 week long Internet-only radio station, which I’m manager of – and the reason why I recently created a 15 minute documentary programme on the Irish language (thanks, Orlagh!).

If you’re interested, the station broadcasts to the world for limited hours daily from March 8th to 12th. More info will be on the web site (which I’m responsible for).

On a slightly unrelated note, here’s Thin Lizzy with “Emerald”:

RTÉ’s new “News Now” streaming video service service (as discussed on Mulley’s site, here) is pretty good – it provides rolling news from the state broadcaster with repeats of the latest bulletins and special live events… except, of course, when they go and do this:

This evenings episode of that hilarious home grown comedy Killinaskully was streamed on the news service.

They followed it up by leading up to the 9 O’Clock news with “Disasters”, an RTÉ Factual department production. It’s a documentary about the loss of life on trawlers off the Donegal coast and so clearly fits the “news channel” bill.

No explanation for Killinaskully though… It would appear though that either they somehow consider it to fit that bill too, or someone was just asleep at the wheel this evening in RTÉ…

And why did I never discover it before? And why did I never spend a night in its company before? Why did I never advertise its existence before? Nevermind the fact that I’ve had 8 pints. Nevermind the fact that I’m sleeping alone tonight. I remember! Pandora was cool… GlobalPandora is SuperCool and I’m lapping in it’s luxury right now…

It’s totally my own personal jukebox, and it’s second to none …

Believe me, – I’m totally mimicking Lars Ulrich right now – and loving it.
