EPsidewaysIt’s time to offline for three days (well, I’ll still be on twitter, probably!) and live in a tent as I’m heading down to Stradbally in Laois early tomorrow morning for the Electric Picnic festival. The line-up of acts is quite long – the ones I’m looking forward to seeing in particular are:

2 MANY DJS, ABC, ALABAMA 3, BASEMENT JAXX, BELL X1, BRIAN WILSON, DINOSAUR JR, DUBLIN GOSPEL CHOIR, DUCKWORTH LEWIS METHOD, ECHO and THE BUNNYMEN, FLAMING LIPS, FLEET FOXES, FLORENCE and THE MACHINE, IMELDA MAY, JAPE, JUST JACK, KLAXONS, LAURA IZIBOR, LISA HANNIGAN, MADNESS, MGMT, MUNDY, OKKERVIL RIVER, ORBITAL, PASSION PIT, RODRIGO Y GABRIELA, ROOTS MANUVA, ROYKSOPP, RUBBERBANDITS, SEASICK STEVE, THE SUGARHILL GANG

… a few of of which I’m only looking forward to because of hearing good things about them (particularly on Phantom 105.2 – they’re that kind of music!) despite never having actually heard their music!

Aside for a second… Seriously though, The flippin’ Sugarhill Gang! … I mean… these guys! doing THIS!… live!:-

This one time, right?… in Athlone…

RCS Master Control crashed while I was producing a show.

Bernard and KeithBut!… no! I’m not going to talk about that… I’m going to go back to February this year, to something I forgot to blog about back then – when I was doing work experience – helping out on Breakfast with Bernard & Keith on i105-107.

I was doing some office work, lining up phone calls for the lads, putting together the “best of bits” for ad breaks later in the day and contributing a little bit on-air – including this one time, when Keith – after remembering that he’d forgotten to pay for the €40 worth of diesel that he’d filled up on at the local petrol station – sent me down there with my mobile so that he could talk to the manager… live on air:

The phones were actually down in the station on the day, so we couldn’t ring the service station – but in the best tradition of “making the best of a bad situation”, I drove down to the service station and rang Bernard on his mobile – and he held his phone up to the mic. I reckon it came out quite well!

I gotta admit… I’m a little bit addicted to twitter… although WHAT a useful site it’s turned out to be after all…

Yesterday I headed into town with a short list of things I had to do and buy. Top of the list was getting a new eye test and glasses, getting copies of the key to the office in work cut and printing up business cards. I went in without a plan, not having an idea of where was best to do what… but twittered once there, asking for recommendations on where to go – and my twitter buddies didn’t fail me. I’m only going back into town today (on the next train) because I didn’t get a chance to go to the place that I was recommended to get business cards from (oh, and I realised I need to get new speaker cable and a couple of other little things for my DJ gear).

Found it funny the other day when sending texts that my purple phone (which ISN’T GAY, David!) didn’t appear to have the word “crunchy” in the dictionary but DID have the word “Heineken”.

Anyway, here’s a few photos I took with said phone in recent days:

This is a local pet shop, for local people. There is nothing for you here.
(About 10 seconds later, a man came along, bent over and stared into one of those doggie kennels for about 30 seconds straight…)

Actually, I really WAS in a good mood that day…
and I gave away the hat to a nagging customer!

OMG hooray! They’re still available!

A telly. Next to the space where I parked my car @ college.
Good old Ballyfermot! :)
