I’d been meaning to blog more recently… had plenty to say… plenty going on. It’s been suggested to me, however, that I don’t go talking online (facebook particularly… here too) specifically about the incident a week ago which led to me having a black eye over the time since then – and it’s been suggested for all the right reasons.
I am going to follow that advice to some degree and not go into any real detail about it. Of course, the minute details of the incident itself aren’t for public consumption as they’re quite personal and it’s not in anyone’s interest really that they be divulged publically. All that needs to be said is that I had a disagreement with someone, he expressed himself physically… and I didn’t get the chance to respond in kind.
Oh… and that I’m fine now!

Just got this press release:
Tickets for Dublin’s Arthur’s Day 250th anniversary celebrations on 24th September 2009 went on sale via Ticketmaster at 9am today (23rd July). Tickets for the four studio venues and the 28 Dublin pubs will only cost €17.59 and €9 respectively. Proceeds from all ticket sales will be donated to the Arthur Guinness Fund.
Those lucky enough to get their hands on tickets to one of the four studio venues – Tripod, Vicar St, Whelan’s and The Academy – will enjoy up to seven amazing international and Irish artists and on top of that people attending the pub venues such as Oliver St John Gogarty’s, O’Donoghues, Mulligans and The Palace Bar, will have the unique experience of seeing two well known artists and a performance from a special guest in the intimate surroundings of a traditional Dublin pub. The special guest artist and two well known artists performing in the pub venues will remain a secret until the night itself.
The confirmed artist line up for the four studio venues has been announced today with more to be confirmed;
Since my trip to Zakynthos last month (which was originally supposed to be as a summer of work but just ended up as a pretty awesome 2 week holiday), I’ve been meaning to upload a few of the nice photos I took … but just haven’t gotten around to it,.. until now.
I would have taken a lot more photos (and videos) but I felt that a lot of the whole experience was quite private & personal and was best kept in my head as a memory. I was never going to put all of the photos online anyway
… so… eh… yeah! – here’s a few to check out:
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the 9,000 year lease on St. James’ Gate (and thus the birth of Guinness Stout) in Dublin. That’s why this ad is now on telly (and will be until September):

The guy who appears 20 seconds in and raises a pint, ‘accidentally’ saying “To Martha!” is Billy – one of the customers in my local pub (where I’m currently working part time).
Anyway, Guinness are also labelling September 24th this year “Arthur’s Day” and they’re marking the day with 4 celebratory gigs in Dublin venues… including St. James’ Gate itself, various little gigs in pubs around Dublin, and further celebrations around the world… and the following acts have been announced & confirmed as performing:
