I put my own voice on my new GPS… which is a bit weird. Strange having myself tell myself where to get off.. as such.. And I didn’t even do any impersonation or grand dramatic expression or anything… just used my own normal voice. Yawntastic, in fairness…

The voice I REALLY want on it though is Peter Dickson – aka Voiceover Man (he of X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, etc. etc. fame) – his particular dramatic “ooomph!” would certainly make car journeys that bit more exciting and appealing! Here he is… just generally being awesome…

Since my trip to Zakynthos last month (which was originally supposed to be as a summer of work but just ended up as a pretty awesome 2 week holiday), I’ve been meaning to upload a few of the nice photos I took … but just haven’t gotten around to it,.. until now.

I would have taken a lot more photos (and videos) but I felt that a lot of the whole experience was quite private & personal and was best kept in my head as a memory. I was never going to put all of the photos online anyway

… so… eh… yeah! – here’s a few to check out:

In the last week or so…

• My car gave up. Just decided that it can’t be arsed going any faster than 30-odd km/h. Luckily, this happened after I’d gotten off the motorway and was only a couple of miles from home. A mechanic friend of mine is having a look at it tomorrow. Personally, I think the clutch is knackered, but I know less about how cars work than I know about how womens’ brains work (i.e.: very little at all)!
• I DJ’d for a 21’st birthday party here in Donabate and, for the first time, used a big screen for music videos and messages to the party goers… was great craic altogether and the punters had a feckin’ brilliant time… one bad thing though was that the pub I was gigging in (and leaving my gear in over-night) was broken into later in the night (a while after closing)… by someone who was there at the party that evening but, luckily for me, nothing of mine was touched.
• I got a bunch of new PS3 games … loving the Simpsons game to bits – hilarious and fun, am stuck on Resistance 2 – killing alien scum in America, and getting stuck-in (online) in Farcry 2 – going to deepest Africa, meeting interesting people, and then killing them … I’m not much of a gamer to be honest – and I haven’t even touched Little Big Planet or Need For Speed: Undercover yet, 2 days after buying them as I’ve also been busy with…
• College assignments - they’re piling up! I just got my ‘Practical Skills’ (Studio Operations) one finished and I’ve to finish my ‘Broadcast Voice’ one (bit of paperwork to do) but just got ‘Media Law’ and ‘Marketing’ assignments today and have a group assignment for ‘Radio Management’ (applying for a broadcasting license from the B.C.I.) to get stuck into A.S.A.P.!
• Speaking of college, I got confirmation from Newstalk that I’ll be with them for work experience at the end of the month, working on the Tom Dunne Show – so I’m very much looking forward to that… should be a good experience working on a busy national station!

I’m pretty certain that’s all my news for now… right now I’m downloading the Windows 7 Beta… and I’m not really sure why… It’s thundering along at around the 300kB/s mark though, which is nice

Found it funny the other day when sending texts that my purple phone (which ISN’T GAY, David!) didn’t appear to have the word “crunchy” in the dictionary but DID have the word “Heineken”.

Anyway, here’s a few photos I took with said phone in recent days:

This is a local pet shop, for local people. There is nothing for you here. (About 10 seconds later, a man came along, bent over and stared into one of those doggie kennels for about 30 seconds straight…) Actually, I really WAS in a good mood that day… and I gave away the hat to a nagging customer!

OMG hooray! They’re still available! – snapped in the newsagents in Main Street, Swords. A telly. Next to the space where I parked my car @ college. Good old Ballyfermot!

(We don’t really use miles or gallons here any more – all kilometres and litres… not that miles and gallons don’t make sense to us, of course…)

My body is definitely in better shape than my car (or “that immovable lump outside my mechanic friend’s house” as I know it at the moment) right now, but I didn’t think it was THAT good… and I was truthful with my answers! (well, mostly – put myself down as a non-smoker with a moderate diet – I only gave up smoking recently, and I still enjoy the odd curry-chip…)
