Here’s an idea… now it might be a little bonkers, but bear with me, ok? Thanks… Right! Ok, so I haven’t had a holiday since December of 2007… and that was only a drive down to Westport and back with my then fiancèe who dumped me two short months later.

Since then, I’ve been working hard and studying hard. I could really do with a break away – hell I deserve one!… but I’ve nobody to go with… not that I’m going to get all “boo hoo” about that – it doesn’t matter… I’ll go alone.. but that’s not the bonkers bit… hang on a sec.

My original idea back a few months ago was to go off to Canada or America on a working student Visa (the ould J1) but, for various reasons – including the fact that I’d left it all a bit too late – what with the paperwork and red tape and all, it doesn’t look like that’s a runner.

That got me down a bit ‘cos I was looking forward to doing the whole studenty thing of travelling the world that I never got to do first time around. Ah well!

So now the idea has been scaled back a little… and now it’s just to head off on my own to a beautiful paradise island on a sun holiday for two weeks. The island might even look something like this! (photo, left)

While there, I soak up the sun… and manage to enjoy myself and actually RELAX (for once)! Well… for a day or two.

Then I thought… what if I find a job there? And then find some cheap accommodation? And then I accidentally-on-purpose miss my flight home… then I stay for the summer, only coming back in September to go back to college… would that be so mad?

Actually… yes… then it did start sounding a bit mad to my ears. Most people I know around my age are settled down and married… (I’m not)… they’re in full-time jobs… (I’m not!)… they have committments keeping them here (I don’t) and wouldn’t dream of just upping sticks and doing something like this. So maybe for me, it is a bit mad. I dunno.

Still though, eh?… it’s a nice idea all the same… sure a man can dream!
