Dear VOTER I really need your support TODAY. Please give me your No. 1 VOTE. Thanks. MOLLY BUCKLEY |
Seems I’m not the only one to get this text spam from Laois/Offaly based candidate, Molly Buckley, and while I realise that a post like this is just advertising further for her, surely text spam like this would do the same thing to others as it does to me – in other words, nothing b ANNOY. IF I lived in her constituency (I don’t, I live EIGHTY MILES away), I wouldn’t vote for her, and I would base that decision purely on the basis of receipt of that text spam.
You’ve wasted your money there, Molly, by paying for a “cell broadcast” service – spamming not only your constituents, but thousands of people who have no idea who the fuck you are – and not only that, it’s likely to have the reverse effect to what you hoped for – i.e.: less votes for you, not more.
Myself and my fiancèe were enjoying a relaxing lie-in this morning until your text came in and woke us both up at 9am on my phone and AGAIN at 9.05am on hers. I’m sure plenty of people who do the late shift on a Thursday (late shopping day) could have had the same experience. Could be worse,- apparently some people were woken by texts from her between 2 and 5am. Wagon.
Use the technology. Don’t abuse it. I can kinda understand the spam texts from the likes of Lynx or Irish Psychics Live or whoever – you may have unwittingly signed up to it and they’re a (sort-of) faceless company, but from someone who’s trying to become a public representative annoying and abusing the public – and beyond the borders of her own constituency too – that’s just idiotic.
Rant over
Err… Enjoy the election “fever”.
